I just wanted to thank you so much. It's getting warmer already but my dogs were able to get a few uses out of their new vests this season. It has made such a difference for them. They used to be scared of going outside in the cold and would shiver even with the warmest jackets and boots on, but this vest has really kept them warm. I included a picture of my Shih-Tzus, Rambo and Mochi, who are finally able to enjoy themselves in the chill.
I have size 26 for my 2 year old Boxer. He's a bit small for a male Boxer. The length is slightly long but ok. The neck area is too big and the chest area a bit tight. If I fully unzip the coat and try to put it on him it's a BIG hassle because it zips from the back end and the front falls down and he steps out of the arm holes. If I leave it zipped up it's still a bit of a hassle to bunch it up to get his front legs through the holes and get the rest over his head.
Great idea. Sizing is difficult to get right. My dog's chest is 25.5 inches, so I got size 18 which said chest is 26 inches. WAY too tight, couldn't zip it up. Size 22 was way too big, but I am keeping it for next year, as my pup is 8 months. Size 20 is the perfect size.
The battery for sizes 20 and up is larger, and the battery compartment is way too tight. Velcro barely closes when battery is connected to the usb cable. And the long piece of velcro barely reaches the opposite side of the top of the vest to close securely over the back zipper.
Batteries, even unconnected on the counter seem to discharge fully in 3-4 days.
Having said that, it is a great concept as a first layer, underneath another jacket that covers the entire back of the dog.
She is nice and toasty even in -25°C weather.
Met the Toasty Tails team at the Pet Expo and got vests for me and my Italian Greyhound. Today she wore the vest for the first time on snowy forest trails, -4C felt colder and it worked great, beyond my expectations. Highly recommend especially for short hair dogs
We have the Otto white size 14 vest and not only does it look and fit great, the quality of the vest and the heating element sets it apart from any other vest we have owned. Never mind the value. If I had to buy everything that is included with the Otto (vest / harness / leash / battery) I would probably have spent double. Highly recommend.
